LEOPOLDVILLE TROOPSHIP DISASTER REMEMBERED

The troopship Leopoldville was torpedoed by a German U- boat and sunk in the English Channel on Christmas Eve 1944. There were 763 soldiers killed, all from the 66th Infantry Division. The bodies of 493 soldiers were never found. This site honors and remembers the sacrifice of those who died and the valor of those who survived.
